Hague Quality Water
In the late 1950s, William R. Hague established his own retail water
conditioning dealership in a small office in Columbus, Ohio.
Before that, Bill Hague tasted success as a direct factory
distributor for Kirby® vacuum cleaners. Then, the water business
presented Bill with a unique opportunity to build a sales organization
and tap into the rental market for domestic and commercial water
treatment equipment.
By the early 1970s, his company began
manufacturing its own equipment – better and more reliable that the
models he sold previously. Hague started selling through other dealers,
too, establishing Hague as a regional supplier.
Within a few
years, a national sales organization was distributing the full Hague
line. Growing demand prompted the building of a new manufacturing
facility in Groveport, a suburb of Columbus, Ohio.
In the mid
1980s, the far-sighted Bill Hague drove to improve his equipment and
grow demand for the future. Starting from a blank piece of paper, he
assembled an engineering team to design a water treatment system that
used less salt and less water – it would become the world’s most
efficient water treatment system.
This team developed a single system that could be configured on an
order-by-order basis to treat many different types of water and provide
dramatic salt and water savings. Thus, a totally new concept in water
treatment was born – a unit that would clean and conserve water
conveniently: The WaterMax®.
Culligan
The WaterMax is an internationally recognized leader in the industry and has the accreditation of the Water Quality Association (WQA).
At
the end of the last century, the manufacturing plant expanded twice and
is poised for continued success and growth. This growth is still
overseen by founder Bill Hague, which makes Hague the oldest major
company in the industry under continuous ownership and management.
In 1959 Bryant and Betty Kitzman started Culligan Central Coast
Water Conditioning Co., Inc. located in Morro Bay, CA. Their son,
Arby, started with company by doing installations and deliveries, then
managed the business for the next 40 years. In 1994 Rob Kitzman, Arby's
son, came to work in the business. He is now the 3rd generation to
manage Kitzman Water.
Culligan of Morro Bay has earned the reputation as hardworking,
service oriented, and as a generous contributor to the local community.
In 1998, Arby received the "Morro Bay Citizen of the Year" award and
in 1999 he received the Morro Bay Rotarian of the Year award in
recognition of his years of investment into our community.
